Cordierite Honeycomb Ceramic Infrared Burner

Cordierite ceramic is a type of magnesium aluminum silicate with particularly good thermal shock properties.  Cordierite has not only low thermal conductivity and thermal expansion, but also being cost-effective.  It’s widely used as a structural ceramic for kiln furniture application and where rapid temperature changes take place.

The dense version of cordierite can be easily pressed to make technical components while the porous version offers superior thermal shock properties and therefore finds uses in heating applications.
